Correlations between tar content and permanent gases as well as reactor temperature in a lab-scale fluidized bed biomass gasifier applying different feedstock and operating conditions

The major problem of fluidized bed biomass gasification is the high tar contamination producer gas which associated with complex and time-consuming sampling analysis these tars. Therefore, correlations to predict content are a helpful tool for development operation gasifiers. Correlations between tars composition as well reactor temperature derived steam-blown lab-scale bubbling gasifier investigated in this study assess their applicability. A comprehensive data set containing over 80 experimental points was obtained various conditions, including variations from 700 800 °C, feedstock, amount steam fluidization, addition oxygen. Linear permanent gases show good accuracy H2 CH4 when using pure steam. However, experiments conducted steam-oxygen mixtures deviations CH4-based correlation smaller but still significant H2-based correlation. No relation CO or CO2 found. shows highest accuracy, agreement experiments. All showed useful results broad operating range. can be considering just one compound. combination different components seems best method prediction. This leads powerful fast online monitoring range once calibration measurement conducted.
